The man behind Digital:Groove is Derek McNee AKA Alex Maxwell.
Since starting out as a clubber and making the natural progression into DJing at the turn of the millennium, heavily influenced by the likes of Masters At Work, Roger Sanchez, Erick Morillo and Carl Cox, Derek honed his skills behind the decks at various local venues and rose to play in front of packed rooms at Space in Ibiza, Ministry of Sound in London and The Arches in Glasgow, where he has rubbed shoulders and spun with many of his heroes.
His skills, passion and consistency behind the turntables are reflected in the crowd’s positive reactions and non-stop good vibes, whether in one of the world’s major super clubs or in front of 100 people closer to home.
2006 started off with a bang when Derek created This is F***ING House with long term partner Tony Moran, together they hosted hundreds of events over the years including the infamous TIFH…at Sea?? boat parties and Toolroom’s 5th birthday party at Ocean Terminal on NYE.
Digital:Groove was later born as he wanted to provide a platform for branded parties both at home and abroad and as a way of discovering new talent. Ten years later Digital:Groove Records evolved which allowed the brand to be an outlet for the artists now amassed on the roster.
With both catalogue and roster continuing to grow and artists in demand all over the globe, Derek still finds time to produce his own tracks and hold down residencies at Digital:Groove branded events at home and abroad.
