With deep roots in the global club culture, the label’s sound blends raw rhythm, hypnotic groove and cutting-edge production created for the dancefloor and beyond.

Founded by artists with over 20 years experience in the booth, the likeminded and collective vibe created by the renowned clubnights took the branded events division of the label to a residency alongside Carl Cox and his legendary Music Is Revolution roadblock on Tuesday’s at Space, Ibiza.

Digitalgroove carries the spirit of one of clublands most iconic eras and played the last 4 years at the superclub, hosting El Salon.

That passion for pure electronic sound drives the label to showcase innovative producers, unite the global underground and keep the true essence of house and techno alive.

TEAM

DEREK MCNEE

Derek McNee is a Scottish DJ, producer, and music entrepreneur best known as the driving force behind house and techno imprint DigitalGroove Records, which he founded in 2012.

Derek’s journey into electronic music began in 2005 where he cut his teeth playing small local gigs and unforgettable boat parties on the river Forth. With a deep passion for house and techno, his reputation quickly grew, leading to bookings at larger events across Scotland. As momentum built, he transitioned onto bigger stages, performing at major clubs and festivals around the world, including iconic venues such as Space Ibiza, Privilege, Ministry of Sound, Sankeys, The Arches, SWG3, The Liquid Room plus many more.

Under the DigitalGroove brand, Derek not only performed but also curated and hosted events that showcased the label’s signature sound – driving, groove-led house and techno with global appeal. His dedication to quality and consistency did not go unnoticed. Legendary DJ Carl Cox recognized the movement DigitalGroove was building and offered the brand a coveted room showcase at Space Ibiza. Derek and his loyal team at DigitalGroove went on to curate and host El Salon at Space on Tuesday nights for the last 4 years of the superclubs existence, delivering standout line-ups and representing the label on the world’s most respected clubbing stage.

Away from the decks, Derek has remained deeply involved in shaping the sound and direction of DigitalGroove Records. As Managing Director and along with his trusted management team, he continues to source and sign cutting-edge music that reflects the label’s ethos, overseeing releases and nurturing talent within the house and techno community.

Over two decades since he first stepped behind the decks, Derek McNee remains a passionate figure in electronic music – balancing life as a dad, DJ, Producer and his ongoing commitment to growing and evolving DigitalGroove Records.

WOODY

DJ Woody, has in the past 15 years risen to be one of the main players on the Glasgow DJing circuit. Formerly a club PR, Woody is an avid clubber and it was his love of house music that motivated him to start playing and creating the music he so enjoyed partying to. In days gone by Woody was one of the main residents at some of Scotland’s busiest weekly club nights which includes The legendary Liquid Cool Soundsystem.

Going right back to 2009  he spent much of his summer midweek’s on the island of Ibiza, rocking the legendary Pukka Up boat parties and Es Paradis.

Heading into 2010 and into 2011, Woody was leading from the front at this time with his three main residencies, a feat few can equal in the cutthroat world of Glasgow clubbing, Woody returned from another successful series of gigs in Ibiza, with some fantastic sets again at the Pukka Up boat parties, Es Paradis and at this stage had fluttered at the legendary Space 3 times over 2 years which was to prove an introduction to bigger things at the world’s greatest ever nightclub.

In addition to DJing at every main club in Glasgow, Woody has performed regularly at quite a few top venues in England too, DJing with some of dance music’s biggest names. DJs such as Yousef, Sensu, Simon Dunmore, DJ Spen, Mark Knight and Dennis Ferrer have all shared the booth with Woody, a who’s-who list that will grow extensively as his career continues to develop.

2012 saw Woody take to the decks in the infamous Sub Club in Glasgow. More top events came along, working with Yousef and subsequently Glasgow’s DJ Illyus in an extended warm up set for the one and only Pete Tong.

2014 was another notch up for Woody as he joined the DigitalGroove Records team as the A&R Manager and resident DJ. The first year saw the label hosting El Salon at Space, Ibiza on the biggest night of them all ‘Carl Cox’s – Music is Revolution’. The label entirely curated the room many times over the season with Woody a mainstay in the line up as well as an integral part of the management team. The label performed impeccably, creating an amazing atmosphere on each occasion, so much so they were invited back year on year to work with Carl until Space closed its doors for the final time. Woody’s last gig at Space was the second last week of Carl Cox’s 15 year residency. It was a truly memorable moment in time for him and the team and one that will be remembered fondly by the fans and DJs alike.

Fast forward a few years of regular residencies and guest slots in Glasgow and abroad he is still a mainstay in the DigitalGroove Records team which includes lending his eyes and ears for worldwide talent and picking the best music to release on the ever growing label. A role that he has really taken to heart and is enjoying watching the catalogue of great music getting bigger and bigger.

Woody has also been working hard producing new music over the years and is now an accomplished producer with releases on the horizon.

The future holds so many things for Woody in an abundance of roles and you won’t have to look far to find him behind the decks somewhere near you.
